Government of Canada investment supports growth and innovation for two businesses in Lindsay

FedDev Ontario invests more than $7 million to help two local companies expand operations and increase resilience 

Lindsay is home to innovative manufacturers that play an important role in strengthening Ontario's food processing and advanced manufacturing sectors. As businesses adapt to evolving market conditions, the Government of Canada is making strategic investments to help companies modernize their operations, increase productivity and position themselves for long-term growth.

Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced more than $7 million through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative to support two Lindsay-based businesses.

Armada Toolworks Ltd. is receiving over $650,000 from FedDev Ontario toward an over $1.3 million project to modernize its operations. By integrating new technologies and manufacturing processes, the company will enhance efficiency, strengthen its capabilities and diversify into new markets.

Mariposa Dairy Ltd. is receiving a repayable contribution of over $6.5 million from FedDev Ontario towards a $19.5 million project to expand its facility and adopt new advanced automated processing, packaging and shipping technologies.

For more than 40 years, the Government of Canada has been proud to partner with local Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) across Canada. They often provide the first investment for businesses looking for access to critical capital and advisory services as they start, adapt and build resilience. Their investments help companies to innovate, create jobs and stay anchored in rural Canada.

  • Incorporated in 2005, Mariposa Dairy produces goat and sheep milk cheese products. With previous support from FedDev Ontario, the company has grown from running a small on-farm family business to becoming one of Canada’s largest goat cheese producers and processors. Mariposa now operates two facilities totalling over 80,000-square feet.

  • Incorporated in 2000, Armada Toolworks Ltd. designs and manufactures custom plastic parts and assemblies for the automotive sector.

  • For more than 40 years, Launch Kawartha has helped drive economic growth in the Kawartha Lakes, providing over $50 million in loans, contributing to more than 9,400 jobs in the region, and responding to more than 17,000 requests for business support and capital advisory services.
