FREDERICTON (GNB) – As part of a joint mission aimed at strengthening Canada-U.S. relations, Premier Susan Holt will lead a delegation of New Brunswick business leaders on a three-day mission to Washington, D.C.
“Our economies are deeply connected, supporting workers and businesses
on both sides of the border in sectors such as energy, seafood, forestry, agriculture and aquaculture, among others,” said Holt. “We are heading to Washington to stress how this partnership benefits both of our economies and our communities.”The mission, which begins Tuesday, will feature meetings with congressional delegations, senators and other representatives. Luke Randall, minister responsible for Opportunities NB and for economic development and small business, will also participate in the mission.
The New Brunswick businesses and organizations participating include:
• Cooke Aquaculture
• J.D. Irving, Limited
• New Brunswick Crab Processors
• Mrs. Dunster’s
• Potatoes New Brunswick
“New Brunswick works closely with New England governors and eastern Canadian premiers to benefit our workers, businesses and people,” said Holt. “We have especially strong ties with the State of Maine, our neighbouring border state.”
Holt will also be part of the Council of the Federation mission to Washington. All 13 provincial and territorial leaders will be there to demonstrate to American leaders the benefits of a stable North American economic partnership.
