Government of Canada announces appointments to the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation

The Government of Canada is committed to appointing highly qualified candidates who are able to best serve the interests of Canadians, through open, competency-based selection processes for all Governor-in-Council appointments.

In keeping with this commitment, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of

Finance and National Revenue, announced the appointment of Randall Benson and Douglas James Enns to the Board of Directors of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) for 4-year-terms.  

Quick facts

• CDIC is a federal Crown corporation that provides deposit insurance of up to $100,000 for each of the nine insured account categories at each CDIC member institution. Members include banks, federally regulated credit unions, as well as loan and trust companies. CDIC is also the resolution authority for its member institutions.

• CDIC deposit insurance fully covers approximately 95 per cent of all eligible deposit accounts at member institutions.
