FedDev Ontario investment helps companies unlock new opportunities for growth

Brampton is home to a rapidly growing cluster of advanced manufacturing, innovation, and technology‑driven companies, supported by strong sector ecosystems across food and beverage, health and life sciences, innovation and technology.
Today, Amandeep Sodhi, Member of Parliament for Brampton Centre, on behalf of the
Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a combined investment of $5.2 million for two City of Brampton initiatives that will help local businesses strengthen operations, enhance competitiveness, and pursue new opportunities for innovation across various markets.Through a $2.5‑million investment under the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, the City of Brampton will launch Brampton’s Business Growth Accelerator. Through the Accelerator, businesses will receive tailored advisory services, market intelligence, and business development connections across domestic and international supply chains ̵ including opportunities in the defence and space and advanced manufacturing sectors ̵ enabling businesses to diversify, scale, and build resilience in response to tariffs, supply chain disruptions, and evolving trade conditions.
With a $2.7‑million investment under the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, the city will partner with the BHive Innovation & Training Hub to deliver BNext AI Program. This initiative will help local businesses in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences, logistics, and mobility adopt AI to boost productivity and competitiveness.

Through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), the Government of Canada is providing $1.95 billion to help businesses boost productivity, lower costs, strengthen supply chain resilience, and open doors to new markets, enhancing overall competitiveness across all sectors, including steel, aluminum, copper, automotive, food security, and forestry.
The RTRI is part of a broad set of tariff support measures, including the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan Facility, the creation of a $1 billion Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) program, a Pivot to Grow initiative, and support for the steel sector through the Strategic Response Fund, as well as the enhancements to the Work-Sharing Program. Together, these efforts demonstrate a commitment to reinforcing Canada’s industrial strength and defending good jobs across the country.
The Government of Canada’s National AI Strategy, AI for All, includes a $500-million national investment to expand and enhance the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies.
