Canada Army Run 2026: Bringing Canadians Together in Support of the People Behind the Army

This past weekend, downtown Ottawa transformed into a vibrant military hub as thousands came together for the 19th edition of Canada Army Run, presented by BMO. From Friday to Sunday, events such as the Canadian Tire Race Expo and BMO Kids' Zone welcomed participants and visitors ahead of the culminating races on Sunday, September 20th.

With great enthusiasm, more than 17,000 participants took part in Canada Army Run 2026,

including over 15,300 who took part in Sunday's in-person race - alongside thousands of spectators and supporter. Participants and military members met at the start line near Ottawa City Hall to run, walk, or roll to begin various challenges, including the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Sergeant Major’s Challenge (5K + 10K), and Commander’s Challenge (5K + Half Marathon). Thousands of additional supporters lined the route to cheer on participants and celebrate the spirit of community that defines the Canadian Army and Canada Army Run.

For those unable to attend in person, virtual races were also held through the month of September to show that military support, wherever one may be.

More than a race, Canada Army Run highlights the people who make up today’s Canadian Army, including soldiers, Reservists, Canadian Rangers, military families, volunteers, and supporters. The event provides Canadians with a unique opportunity to connect with the Army, learn about its role in serving and protecting Canadians, and gain insight into the modern Army being built to meet today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.

Canada Army Run also serves as a meaningful opportunity for Canadians to discover the many ways they can contribute through military service while fostering a greater understanding of Army life and career opportunities.

At its core, Canada Army Run remains a powerful demonstration of support for military members, Veterans, and their families. Through fundraising efforts in support of Soldier On and Support Our Troops, participants help make a positive difference in the lives of those who serve and those who stand beside them. • With fundraising continuing until September 30, Canada Army Run 2026 participants have already raised more than $330,000 for Support Our Troops and Soldier On, bringing the total amount raised since 2008 to more than $5.9 million.
