Minister Anand to welcome Germany’s Foreign Minister to Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will welcome Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul, to Canada from September 24 to 25, 2026.

Canada and Germany are close transatlantic partners and Allies, working together to advance international peace and security, and support Ukraine. Both countries are committed to strengthening transatlantic ties, promoting sustainable economic growth and

upholding the rules-based international order. As NATO Allies and G7 members, Canada and Germany collaborate closely on shared priorities, including global security, trade and investment, energy security, critical minerals, climate action and research and innovation.

During the visit, Minister Anand and Minister Wadephul will discuss a range of bilateral, regional and global issues, including support for Ukraine, Euro-Atlantic security, developments in the Middle East, economic security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence and Canada-Germany cooperation within the G7, NATO and other multilateral forums. They will also explore opportunities to further strengthen the long-standing partnership between Canada and Germany.
