Interchanges north of the Pierre-Laporte and Québec bridges - Partial closure of the Duplessis Expressway as of September 14

QUÉBEC CITYSept. 12, 2025 /CNW/ - The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable informs road users that only one lane will be available to use the Pierre-Laporte Bridge from the Duplessis Expressway (540), from September 14 to mid-October. Episodes of congestion are to be expected, especially for the rush hour at the end of the day.

This obstruction is necessary to carry out work on underground pipe networks. These

operations are part of the project to redevelop the interchanges north of the Pierre-Laporte and Quebec Bridges.

Traffic management

September 14, at 7 p.m., until mid-October

  • Closure of one lane out of two atExit No. 9 (Pierre-Laporte Bridge, Montreal, Highway 20) of the Duplessis Highway (540) southbound.

Please note that access to the Duplessis Highway (540) southbound from Maricourt Avenue will be closed during the night of September 14 to 15 in order to set up the work areas.

Late Zipper Insertion

When a lane is closed or terminated, and traffic is heavy, road users using that lane should enter the open lane late. This technique maximizes the use of the road, reduces the speed difference between the two lanes and reduces the amount of congestion backflow by up to 40%. This technique is carried out in three stages:

  • use the two available channels;
  • avoid blocking access to one of the routes;
  • to take the remaining path on a work-study basis.

Before hitting the road, it is recommended to consult the site Web or the Québec 511 mobile app. Alerts can be activated on the mobile app to receive real-time notifications about current obstructions and warnings.

The Department thanks road users for their cooperation.
