Highway 40 between Berthierville and Lanoraie - Work continues under the roadway eastbound

QUÉBEC CITYSept. 3, 2025 /CNW/ - The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable announces that work to replace the culvert under the roadway of Highway 40, between Chemin de Joliette, in Lanoraie, and Route 158, in Berthierville, is progressing well and is entering its final phase.

The first phase of the project, the replacement of the culvert under the westbound roadway,

has been completed. The phase change for the installation of the new culvert in the eastbound direction can thus begin.

The work will take place continuously, from September 4 to 14, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Traffic will be maintained on one lane per direction on the westbound roadway, and the lowered speed limit will vary between 50 and 80 km/h. In addition, the eastbound exit to Rang Sainte-Philomène will be closed. On the other hand, the entrance ramp to Highway 40 westbound, from Rang Sainte-Philomène, will be reopened.

Episodes of congestion are to be expected as the site approaches. For travel between Trois-Rivières and Montreal, the Ministry recommends using Highway 20.

The Ministry would like to thank road users for their cooperation over the past few days, and would like to remind you that it is making every effort to fully restore traffic on Highway 40 as soon as possible.

The work may be extended due to adverse weather conditions or operational constraints. Thus, before hitting the road, it is recommended to consult Quebec 511, a practical tool for properly planning your trips.

For the safety of road users and workers, compliance with the signage in place is essential.
